Our Boats
All our boats are insured for hire and covered by an exceptional 24 hour national breakdown service. Before we add any boat to our collection we spend a great deal of time assessing it and liaising with the Owners, we also visit every boat at least once a year. All boats are listed as non-smoking throughout the interiors, Please do not smoke under any circumstances inside boats. As all our boats are privately owned, each is individual and equipment differs on every one. Please therefore refer to individual boats on our search for boats section for in depth descriptions. We do however have a standard inventory which is the same on every boat.
Making a reservation
You can reserve your chosen boat by email or by telephone. However, the boat will not be booked until the completed and signed booking form and conditions of hire have reached us with a deposit which is 25% or one quarter of the total hire fee. If you would like us to pencil you in while you confirm your decision or while you send us the booking form and deposit, we are happy to do this for five days unless we are within six weeks of the holiday date in which case we need a full payment to secure the booking. For security reasons, we also require a photocopy of either the passport or driving licence of the leading member of the party.
Your Party
Total Number in the Party. The number of people stipulated in the boat description may not be exceeded in any circumstances and only those listed on the Booking Form may occupy the boat.
Composition of Parties and Age Limits. It is our policy not to accept bookings from groups of young people under the age of 21 and/or all male or female parties. This policy is not intended to be discriminatory, but is merely to protect our Boat Owners’ interests.
Pets. We encourage our Owners to take pets, but this is an individual choice. If accepted, it is on the strict understanding that they are kept under control, have their own sleeping baskets and under NO circumstances are allowed on seating or bedding. Neither should they be left in the boat unsupervised as this can result in considerable damage. Failure to adhere to this condition will incur loss of a proportion of your deposit towards extra cleaning/replacement. If accepted, no more than two pets are allowed unless otherwise specified – and remember to include them on your Booking Form.
Access
Arrival and Departure Times. The majority of rentals commence at 3pm on the first day of your holiday and end at 10am on the day of departure unless otherwise specified in the boat description. This ensures that the Owners have time to prepare the boat for incoming guests and your co-operation in this matter will contribute towards a trouble-free changeover.
Access and Parking. If the parking is a bit tight we will include a phrase such as ‘Private parking for 1 medium-sized car’ in the Miscellaneous section of a description. Equally, many of our boats are in unique settings, so the access may not be on a metalled road. If the access to the boat is down a track, we will state this in the description. Some tracks may be challenging or unsuitable for vehicles with low ground clearance. If you have such a vehicle or have any other concerns about parking or the access to the boat, please do not hesitate to call us for more details.
Access for All. Please notify is if you have any special requirements, for example, if one of your party has mobility problems. Each of our boats is very individual so please draw on our personal knowledge so that we can provide you with the relevant information to help you to choose a boat that is suitable for your needs.
Financial Matters
Losses and Damages. The occasional accident is bound to happen and any losses or damages during your holiday must be paid for. Before you arrive, your boat will have been cleaned, the inventory checked and any missing items noted or replaced. You will be asked to sign a check list with relation to the state of the boat and its equipment and also on return, will be asked to complete the panel at the foot of the check list giving details of any breakages, losses, damage sustained, etc. You should also be aware that you have a legal liability to pay for any damages you may cause to the boat during your holiday. We ask all Owner’s to insure the boat in respect of the usual risks covered in its insurance policy and, whilst these policies will vary in detail, the major perils should be covered. However, in certain circumstances, if you should cause any loss or damage by negligence, you could become liable and would probably not be covered by the personal liability section of your own household policy. Equally, the Owner’s insurance is unlikely to cover your personal possessions. We therefore advise you to take out holiday insurance to cover yourself. We can recommend a policy, which will cover you against cancellation, personal accident and personal liability (amongst other things). Under the personal liability section of this policy, should any damage be done to the inside of the boat you will be covered. However, it does not cover you for damage to the exterior of the boat. With this in mind we take a refundable damage deposit of £400.00, which covers the owner’s insurance excess.
Boat Ownership
We take great care in selecting the boats we market and in working with Owners who share our views. However, it is important that you are aware that the hire agreement is directly with the Owners. In the unusual circumstance that the Owners are unable to sort out any problems you may encounter with the boat, we are at hand, but our role is that of an arbitrator. In that capacity, we will do our utmost to ensure that any problems are resolved quickly and to your complete satisfaction.
